Asia Weather - Deadly floods spare coffee; palm oil thrives

SINGAPORE (Reuters) - Deadly floods in Vietnam have damaged rice and corn but spared the country's coffee plantations, while moonson rains help palm oil thrive in Malaysia ahead of the peak harvesting season.
Extreme weather persisted in other parts of Asia, where the worst drought in 100 years hit China's main soybean growing area and the driest spell in 50 years battered the country's rice growing region.
In the Indian sub-continent, massive floods hit Bihar, Orissa and Assam but a government official said the impact on corn, oilseeds and water-intensive crops such as rice could be small. Flood waters have also begun to recede in some areas.
