Clean-ups in flood wake

RETREATING floodwaters have revealed a massive clean-up challenge for towns around the state this morning.

After a torrid 48 hours of rain, the Derwent and Huon rivers in the South both peaked yesterday and the swelling Mersey and Forth rivers in the North-West and Ringarooma River in the North-East drove many from their homes late on Friday night.

In some regions, the floods reached one-in-100-year levels.
