BHUBANESWAR: The State Government has enhanced the compensation amount for death due to natural calamities from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh.
Announcing the decision in the Assembly on Friday, Revenue Minister Manmohan Samal said that this will be implemented from June 27, 2007 The Minister said the water level in Subarnarekha, Budhabalang, Baitarani and Jalaka rivers has started receding.
There has been extensive damage to crop and property in five districts.
