Nine more killed in east India floods: minister

BHUBANESWAR, India (AFP) — Heavy flooding in the eastern Indian state of Orissa has claimed the lives of nine more people, bringing the death toll in the state to 26 since the weekend, an official said Monday.

Orissa's disaster management minister Manmohan Samal told AFP in state capital Bhubaneswar that more than 3.5 million people have been affected by the flooding and close to 300,000 have had to be evacuated.
