Flood-hit Tripura, Mizoram remain cut off for seventh day

AGARTALA: Tripura and Mizoram remained cut off from the rest of the country for the seventh day on Tuesday due to devastating flood in Barak valley of Assam and landslides on the Assam-Agartala National Highway.

Official sources said the highway remained blocked at Badarpur in south Assam due to floods. The highway was also blocked at Sonarpur in Jayantiya hills of Meghalaya due to landslides. Although, the road is now cleared of blocks, it has not been opened for vehicles.

Some light vehicles from Tripura were being ferried by boats at Badarpur but trucks were stranded.
