Sudan has again appealed to the international community for help on behalf of thousands of its citizens devastated by historic floods since July.

Torrential rains and overflowing rivers have been causing the worst floods in living memory in the countryThe worst affected areas include the states of Blue Nile, Gedarif, Gezira, Jongelei, Kassala, Khartoum, North Kordofan, Red Sea, Sennar, Unity, Upper Nile, and White Nile.
Some 119 people have lost their lives and more than 300 others injured, the Sudanese Embassy in Nairobi said yesterday. More than 3 million people have been affected, with 200,000 families left homeless.
