Flood situation slightly eases in Bihar

Patna, Aug. 21 (PTI): With the flood situation showing signs of improvement in Bihar, the state government today decided to stop airdropping of relief materials in the flood affected districts from tomorrow.

The Principal secretary of the Road Construction department and in-charge flood relief operations R K Singh said that all the four IAF helicopters that airdropped relief materials in the deluge-hit areas would be derequistioned as the flood situation had eased in most of the areas .

"The relief will continue to reach the victims by road and boats", he said adding IAF choppers airdropped over 327 tonnes of relief since the operation began on August three.
