India: Situation report - Deep depression/flood, 21 Aug 2007


As per IMD report, yesterday's well marked low pressure area over Jharkhand and adjoining areas of north Orissa & Gangetic West Bengal now lies over north Chhattisgarh and neighbouring areas. Under its influence, widespread rainfall is likely over Chhattisgarh during next 24 hours and over Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha during next 48 hours. Fairly widespread rainfall is also likely over north Madhya Maharashtra, Gujarat and Rajasthan during 21st to 23rd August. Also an off-shore trough running from Konkan coast to Karnataka coast is likely to cause rainfall over Konkan & Goa and Coastal Karnataka during next 2-3 days (22nd­23rdAugust).
