| Major Punjab cities receive rain; Sindh, Balochistan advised steps against floods By Our Correspondents LAHORE: The day long rain Monday changed most roads and streets of the provincial metropolis in slippery tracks and ponds seriously affecting the routine life across the city. The rain, which started at 10am and continued till the sunset, has inundated most of the roads disrupting traffic at almost every important crossing like Kalma Chowk, Bhekhewala More, Wahdat Road, FC College Bridge, The Mall, Secretariat, Chauburji, Mozang Chungi, Ichhra, Qainchi, Walton Road, Defence More, Railway Station and Lorry Adda. The rain also badly affected low lying areas along Bund Road as rain water submerged the roads. Residents of various localities blasted Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) for not cleaning the sewer lines before the monsoon. The residents also said absence of any secondary drain to flush out rain water aggravated the problem. The residents appealed Punjab chief minister to pay surprise visits to witness 'efficiency' of Wasa and other civic departments. Full Story |
