More cities ask residents to conserve water

CONOVER -- Conover and Claremont have joined Hickory in asking their residents to reduce the amount of water they use.

Cities that use water from the Catawba River Basin have been asked to participate in voluntary water conservation because the area is in a stage one drought. Decreased stream flows and lake levels have been observed throughout the river basin, making water levels lower.
